Speech by the President- Sedoo Initiative for Children with special needs (SECHILD), Kawan Aondofa-Anjira at the Opening of the new SECHILD center in Light Gold Estate, Lugbe-Abuja-Nigeria on June 4th, 2022
The Board Chairperson of Sedoo Initiative for children with special needs, Barr. Aver Gavar, Chairperson Advisory Board Gen. E.T Nienge (Rtd),Co-Founder, Mr. Aondofa Anjira, Board members, the Clergy, distinguished guests, our valuable blessed and unique children, development partners, members of the press, ladies and gentlemen, it is an honor extending warm greetings to you all.
It is with joy in my heart that I welcome you to this grand event, you have indeed demonstrated your passion for our special children by honoring the invitation to witness this milestone, we do not take your presence for granted. Thank you for being part of our story.
As i stand before you today to celebrate this milestone, I am filled with nostalgia as I recall moments when I dreamt of having a center as big as this, that dream has finally come to reality. Today we are gathered here to celebrate that bigger space we have always desired, a space that figuratively and literally represents the actualization of dreams.
What we are celebrating today is proof of God’s faithfulness over the years, a fulfillment of dreams that humanly seemed lofty, a story of a couple’s quest for answers and care for nurturing two of their children born with cerebral palsy and rising above the enormous challenges to establish a conducive home for other children with special needs.
Today is indeed a joyful day for us as we move into this bigger space; haven addressed one major need!
It is very important to note that these special Children though born with a health condition of brain abnormality, (often referred to as cerebral palsy) also deserve the fundamental human rights to love, care, and access to basic services such as physiotherapy, psychosocial support, education, and occupational therapy, and most importantly good shelter.
The new center will afford us the opportunity to enroll more children who are on the waiting list, provide them sustained care and the basic services needed, Collectively WE can meet their needs!
We are therefore calling on all the good spirited distinguished personalities here and out there to partner with us in providing these children with all the basic needs of life.
It is our sincere expectation that you will continue to support the center; currently the center is in dire need of a power generating set and a vehicle and we are trusting God that with your support, these needs will soon be available.
I am confident, that together we can work to create a future for children with special needs.
